SUSTAINABILITY AND EXCELLENCE
1. Corporate Responsibility Assessments
Companies are increasingly held accountable for their corporate responsibility performance. An assessment is a valuable tool for strengthening your corporate responsibility strategy and for communicating your risk management performance across business areas in your company, as well as to investors, regulators, and other stakeholders. It provides external validation of your ability to manage risk related to your corporate responsibility. It can help manage shareholder and stakeholder expectations and signal your commitment to national, international, and/or industry standards for corporate responsibility and accountability.
2. Corporate Sustainability Reporting
It is the way a company reports its activities and impacts relating to economic, environmental, and social issues. CSR has a long history going back to environmental reporting when the first environmental reports were published in as early as the late 1980s. Our services involve providing training and technical assistance in preparing a sustainability report based on internationally adopted guidelines, standards, and frameworks like GRI-G4 guidelines, UNGC, OECD guidelines, AA 1000, ISO 26000, and various other relevant frameworks.
3. Benchmarking of Sustainability Performance
Benchmarking provides companies with a qualitative assessment of the extent to which an organization has adopted sustainable management practices. It measures performance against a number of characteristics that together represent the qualities needed to attain leadership and gain competitive advantage through sustainability.
4. Ethical Supply Chain Management
Adopting good practices within your own organization is not enough anymore. Today, the brands are judged by their performance in the supply chain. Consumers, investors, business partners, regulators, and other stakeholders now expect a company and its entire supply chain to be ethical.
Ethical Supply Chain management involves the application of existing risk management tools, programs, and practices to your business partners operating outside the traditional “four walls” of your corporate entity. We specialize in ethical procurement and sustainable supply chain management.
5. Enterprise Social Compliance Assessments
As the world economy is becoming globalized, more and more buyers are going to the developing and under-developed countries for sourcing products to reduce costs.
At the same time, they face a huge potential risk due to the poor ethics of some suppliers from these countries.
Therefore, many businesses require strict ethical auditing when they choose their suppliers. To cooperate with these buyers, the suppliers have to improve themselves to meet the ethical requirement as well.
6. CSR Policy and Strategy Formulation
In today's marketplace, the consumers are demanding more transparency regarding the environment, social, and labor conditions under which products are made. The stakeholders are demanding transparency on how an organization is identifying and dealing with the material issues that concern the stakeholders and overall economic, social, and environmental conditions in the region(s) they operate.
To meet the stakeholder expectations and be sustainable, the organizations need to develop and implement a social responsibility policy that defines their overall approach toward sustainability. We provide technical assistance in developing or reviewing the CSR policy and formulating CSR strategy to address the reporting issues in an organization.
7. Stakeholder Engagement
Integrating your stakeholder's views into your strategy, services, and policy is not easy, but is increasingly necessary. The shift from managing, liaising, or consulting stakeholders to genuinely engaging with them will bring a greater focus on the creation of ‘mutual value’ and the building of enduring relationships.
Focusing on effective stakeholder engagement approaches has the potential to transform your key relationships and achieve your sustainability goals. We offer both in-house consulting and training on stakeholder mapping, stakeholder prioritization, and strategy for effective stakeholder engagement.
1. Environment Management Systems: ISO 14001
The ISO 14000 series of standards address various aspects of environmental management. These standards provide practical tools for organizations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and continually improve their environmental performance.
ISO 14001:2004 sets out the criteria for a strong environmental management system. We work with our Clients to provide technical assistance, training, and auditing for design and implementation of an Environmental Management System.
2. Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001
This standard focuses on the concept of achieving a continual improvement in the performance of an organization’s product or services through a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach. By implementing the ISO 9001 requirements, an organization can demonstrate its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
We work with our Clients to provide technical assistance, training and auditing for design and implementation of a Quality Management System based on requirements of ISO 9001.
3. Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems: OHSAS 18001
OHSAS 18001:2007 is an internationally recognized occupational health and safety management system designed to assist the organizations in managing the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues to achieve continual improvement in their OHS performance. The standard is developed based on Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) requirements and provides an excellent framework to the organizations striving to proactively identify their OHS risks, address them on a proactive basis and improve their occupational health and safety performance. We work with our Clients to provide technical assistance, training and auditing for design and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Management System based on requirements of OHSAS 18001.
4. Energy Management Systems: ISO 50001
This ISO 50001 standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving an energy management system, whose purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy security, energy use and consumption. The standard aims to help organizations continually reduce their energy use, and therefore their energy costs and their greenhouse gas emissions. A significant feature in ISO 50001 is the requirement to improve the energy management system and the resulting energy performance. We work with our Clients to provide technical assistance, training and auditing for design and implementation of an Energy Management System based on requirements of ISO 50001.
5. Food Safety Management Systems: ISO 22000
ISO 22000 provides the food services industry with a model for identifying, managing, and improving the food safety risks from various food handling operations. The standard sets out the requirements for a food safety management system. It maps out what an organization needs to do to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe. It can be used by any organization regardless of its size or position in the food chain. We work with our Clients to provide technical assistance, training and auditing for design and implementation of a Food Safety Management System based on requirements of ISO 22000.
6. Integrated Quality, Environment, and OHS Management Systems (IMS)
Considering the inter-linkages of various quality, environment, and occupational health & safety issues, organizations worldwide are addressing the quality, environment, health, and safety (QEHS) requirements in an integrated way rather than dealing with these issues in isolation. The organizations having an integrated QEHS Management System based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 will be able optimize their resources and effectively identify the key quality, environmental, and OHS risks and address them in a systematic way to achieve continual improvement in their QEHS performance.
We work with our Clients to facilitate a better understanding of requirements of the quality, environment, and OHS standards and integrate these requirements to have a common management system to achieve a continual improvement in their QEHS performance.
7. Sustainability Reporting: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines
Sustainability reporting is a method to internalize and improve an organization’s commitment to sustainable development in a way that can be demonstrated to both internal and external stakeholders. Regulators have a direct interest in sustainability reporting as it can help markets function more efficiently and drive progress towards sustainable development goals. Thus, sustainability reporting is part of an organization’s risk management process and overall communication strategy. We assist the Client to develop their sustainability report in line with various international guidelines including GRI and establish a system for ongoing reporting.
8. Guidance on other CSR guidelines and multi-stakeholder initiatives, UNGC, OECD, ISO 26000, SA 80000 and Social Code of Conducts
Multi-stakeholder initiatives have attempted to address some of the major corporate social responsibility issues associated with corporate self-regulation, notably aspects dealing with labour rights, the responsibilities of suppliers, and the need for independent monitoring. Some of these initiatives also aim to impose a degree of harmonization. We assist our Clients on training, implementation, disclosure, and voluntary reporting based in various guidelines and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
9. Consulting and Guidance on Eco-Labeling Programs
Ecolabels have widely been used as labeling systems for food and consumer products. Ecolabels are voluntary initiatives aimed to help customers address their environmental concerns when shopping. "Ecolabeling" is a method of environmental performance, certification, and labelling that is practiced around the world where an ecolabel identifies overall environmental preference of a product or service within a specific product/service category.
We assist our Clients in training, implementation, and certification within various applicable ecolabeling programs.
WASTE MANAGEMENT AND ECO-EFFICIENCY
1. Waste Management Plans
The purpose of developing a waste management plan is to manage waste produced in the most efficient way possible. Developing a waste management plan includes planning for minimizing the waste and maximizing the reuse, recycling and recovery. We go a step further and help develop a waste management plan that not only manages your waste, but also allows energy recovery from the waste stream.
2. Waste Management Audits
Waste Management Audits include an assessment of waste generation and recycling practices and an evaluation of nature and composition of waste streams. As a part of our audit services we also provide guidance on compliance with applicable legislation.
3. Waste Minimization
Waste minimization is the process of reducing the amount of waste produced. It involves efforts to minimize resource and energy use during manufacturing. Waste minimization usually requires knowledge of the production process, cradle-to-grave analysis (the tracking of materials from their extraction to their return to the Earth) and detailed knowledge of the composition of the waste.
