This year marks a significant milestone for Ketek Group Inc. as we celebrate 45 years of unwavering dedication to technical knowledge, innovation, and client satisfaction. Since our inception, we’ve been committed to providing top-quality services and products, prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility.
In 1979, Rick Abel Sr. and his brother Rosaire embarked on a new venture with a single skid-mounted incinerator. The demand grew quickly, prompting the brothers, alongside their cousin Albert Klyne, to incorporate Ketek. The name, a palindrome chosen to represent the combination of key people with technical expertise, reflects our enduring commitment to excellence.
From the outset, Ketek set itself apart by including scheduled servicing and repairs in the rental rate, a practice that has since become industry-standard. Our innovative approach ensured clients could calculate the real cost of equipment without unexpected fees, fostering trust and long-term relationships.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Ketek expanded its services and capabilities. In 1984, we founded Westland Incinerator Company, which grew into an international supplier of incineration equipment. In 1992, we diversified further by acquiring Groundwater Control Systems, optimizing our operations year-round.
Recognizing the importance of safety and professional development, we established Alltek Loss Prevention in 2002 to enhance employee training and consulting services. This commitment to safety has been integral to our growth and reputation.
In 2011, Ketek’s various entities amalgamated to form the Ketek Group, allowing us to provide consistent, comprehensive services across Western and Northern Canada. Our expansion continued with new branch offices, enhancing our ability to support clients in diverse industries.
Rick Sr.’s leadership was instrumental in shaping Ketek’s success. His vision and dedication continued to guide the company until his passing in 2019.
A Legacy of Innovation and Commitment
Over the past four decades, Ketek has continuously evolved to meet the needs of our clients. Our journey began with a focus on rental equipment for industrial and municipal clients. As the world transformed and industries adapted, Ketek proactively expanded its operations to encompass the needs of the community. Today, we offer a comprehensive range of services, including environmental solutions and custom manufacturing. Our commitment to innovation has driven us to develop cutting-edge solutions that address the unique challenges of our clients.
Today, his legacy lives on through the work of our team, led by his son Brad Abel, our President, and his nephew Rick Lee Abel, our VP of Support Services.
